Darren James, Two companies, California-based adult film stopped production after a pon* star tested positive for HIV. Vivid Entertainment and Wicked Pictures Van Nuys of Caroga Park both said they delayed a precaution.
Neither studio has released the identity of the actor in question, but they confirmed that the actor had sexual relations with others in the pon* industry.
“We did this as a precaution and will continue to monitor the situation,” Steven Hirsch, Vivid’s founder and co-chairman, said the Los Angeles Times. “We’ll wait all the facts before going back into production.”
All pon* actors in the state of California are legally required to submit negative tests for sexually transmitted diseases within 30 days of filming. They are not, however, necessary to use condoms while working on films.
Darren James was infected with HIV while working in the pon* industry in 2004. He had initially tested negative for the disease, but discovered he was HIV infected after three. According to James, the lack of condom use is a major problem in the pon* industry.
“I knew it would happen,” James told the Times in Los Angeles. “And how long has it been? Again. They went right back to the same habits. “
