Dan Savage The Stranger And Deck The Halls

December 6, 2011 by staff

Dan Savage The Stranger And Deck The Halls, Someone had to straighten out that carol—can’t have children donning gay apparel.

Says Slog tipper Nicole:

Cherry Knoll Elementary School, of which I am an alumna, is removing the word ‘gay’ from Deck The Halls at the children’s Christmas concert. Please bring some attention to this issue! As far as I can find there has been no local press coverage, but you can see outrage from some community members at the school’s Facebook page.

What does this teacher do? She is an idiot. The word “gay” in this song has nothing to do with queers; it is talking about the clothes they are wearing!

it has to do with the word happy. what kind of moron is offended but that. Gay also means happy, joyful. geez some people need to get a real life and learn to take things with a grain of salt here. When these songs were written the author might have know about the gay community but it wasn’t advertised like it is now. Maybe this teacher should look up the word in the dictionary…. HELLO!!!! This season has to do with the celebration of Christ’s Birth. no some moranic person trying to make a point by changing the lyrics of an ageless song or trying to change the reason for the season. Whoever this teacher is should be suspended for trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

Why am I not surprised that another idiot teacher is up to no good? There are a lot of good teachers out there but this flunkie is definitely not one of them. I think the whole ‘politically incorrect’ fiasco, that seems to be growing by leaps and bounds, has gotten totally out of hand. Good grief!

just because someone is a teacher doesn’t make them smart – the evidence is in this ridiculous, obsurd act by the teacher. … Get real people!

Could someone please explain to this teacher that ‘gay apparel’ has nothing to do with being hmosxl?
