Dallas Weather, School officials in Dallas County and Perry County are keeping an eye on the weather this weekend. A winter storm should bring snow and freezing rain in the area that could force the closure of schools Monday for the safety of students.
“Currently, we are keeping an eye on what happens,” Morgan Academy Director Randy Skipper said. “We have sent emails to all parents to let them know that there is the possibility, but we wait until Sunday evening before taking a final decision. ”
Wait and see approach seems to be popular for school systems around Selma.
Selma City School Superintendent Dr. Donald Jefferson said the school system would continue to monitor the weather and be in contact with the Dallas County Emergency Management Agency on Sunday.
“I have e-mail all managers informing them to keep an eye on,” said Jefferson. “We continue to devote special attention and if we decide to cancel or postpone school, reported electronically as well as radio and television. ”
So far, no schools have taken the decision to close on Monday, but each has a plan to notify parents, teachers and staff if necessary.
Meadowview Christian School is an automated telephone system to be used, according to director Miriam Anderson, as well as the Perry County school system.
Skipper said Morgan Academy would announce the decision through e-mails and phone calls.
