D3 Football, University of Chicago junior defensive end Jake Longtin (Sioux City, Iowa / North) and second-year wide receiver Dee Brizzolara (Aurora, Ohio / Aurora) were selected for this week D3football.com Team of the Week.
Longtin (pictured) tallied three sacks in the Maroons 61-22 win at the University Athletic Association rival Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh last Saturday. The Maroons held the Tartans to 253 meters in the afternoon.
Brizzolara has been chosen as the wide receiver on the basis of his eight receptions for 235 yards with touchdown passes of 31, 44 and 87 yards. It has also been cited as a return specialist after scoring on a kickoff return of 83 yards and an 86-yard punt reflux. Brizzolara finished the day with 432 all-purpose yards and a school record five touchdowns.
The D3football.com Team of the Week recognizes the top Division III performers at each position during the action of the previous week. Brizzolara was honored for the first time this season and the second time in his career, while Longtin earned his first career visa.
Chicago (7-2 overall, 2-0 UAA) closes the regular season at home Saturday, November 13 when it entertains Washington (Mo.) University in a match that will determine the UAA championship series and a possible NCAA bid.
