D B Cooper SkyjackerD B Cooper Skyjacker, A woman claiming to be the niece of legendary hijacker DB Cooper says she is the source of renewed interest by the FBI in the mystery of 40 years of age.
In an interview broadcast Wednesday on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” said Marla Cooper had provided the FBI with the evidence – including a photo and a guitar strap – that could help prove her uncle, Doyle Lynn Cooper, was the man who parachuted from a Boeing 727 aircraft and 200,000 and vanished. Cooper said she survived the fall but died in 1999.

“I’m sure he was my uncle, Doyle Lynn Cooper. Whom LD Cooper calls us,” he told ABC News.

The incident took place on November 24, 1971, when a man calling himself Dan Cooper hijacked a Northwest Orient Airlines in flying from Seattle to Portland, Oregon The hijacker threatened to blow up the plane, forced it to land and demanded a ransom and 200,000 and a parachute. After the plane took off, down the back steps of the plane and jumped over the Pacific Northwest, and a legend was born.

The FBI mounted a massive manhunt in the moment and has been following the case since then, but the trail had gone cold until this week when the FBI said it had received “credible evidence” in the case.

That evidence, according to ABC, including the name of a man and a guitar strap, provided by Marla Cooper. No fingerprints were found on the guitar strap, ABC, citing an anonymous source.

Cooper told ABC that as a child of 8 years old, remember her two guys up to something suspicious during the holidays of 1971 in her grandmother’s house in Bend, Oregon, near the area where the database Cooper jumped from the plane.

“My two uncles who only see at parties were planning something very naughty. I watched with some very expensive walkie-talkies they had bought,” he said. “They let go, supposedly hunting turkey and Thanksgiving morning I was waiting for her return.”

The men did not return, he said, and the kidnapping took place the next day.

She said her uncle came home that day wearing a bloody shirt.

“My uncle LD wearing a white tank and was bloodied and bruised and a mess, and I was horrified. I began to mourn. My other uncle, who was with learning disabilities, said:” Marla shut up and go for her dad ‘”he said in an interview with ABC.

She says she also remembers her uncles talking about the money that day.

“I heard my uncle say ‘we did, our money problems are over, who hijacked a plane,’” he told ABC.
