CWA Verizon Contract

CWA Verizon Contract, Verizon attempts to reach a new deal constructively with two unions representing employees of the telephone company in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic states were unsuccessful, and union leaders announced their decision to call a strike. In anticipation of this development, Verizon has activated a contingency plan to ensure customers experience temporary disruption in service during this time.
Verizon has trained tens of thousands of office workers, retirees and others to fill the roles and responsibilities of labor unions represented landline. As part of the company’s plan of business continuity, these individuals report to their emergency assignments as scheduled, and will continue providing customers with high quality support and assistance throughout the duration of the strike the union.
“We are confident we have the talent and resources needed to meet the needs and demands of our customers,” said Marc C. Reed, Verizon executive vice president of human resources. “It’s unfortunate for our employees and our customers that the Communications Workers of America and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers have decided to leave the table rather than continue working through the issues. We will continue doing our part to reach a new contract reflect the economic realities of today in our wireline business, serving the needs of all parties. It is also our intention that under a new contract, Verizon employees continue to receive a competitive salary and benefit programs. ”
