Craig Sager For Acute Leukemia, Update 8:23 p.m.: Sager confirmed the diagnosis via a statement through Turner Sports PR:

“My favorite time of year – city to city, round by round, 40 games in 40 nights. A dramatic turn has matched me with acute myeloid leukemia. From the sidelines to being sidelined, 40 veins and 40 electrolytes. Too bad, I had some probing questions for Pop.”

Deadspin.com first discovered this tweet Thursday night from TNT sideline reporter Craig Sager’s son, revealing that his father has acute leukemia.

Sager, known for his loud, colorful suits and engaging personality, has spent 17 seasons with Turner Sports covering the NBA for “NBA on TNT.” Turner has not made an announcement yet regarding his availability for the playoffs, but a subsequent tweet from Craig Jr. indicates he will not be covering at least as many, if any, games for the playoffs during his treatment.
