Leszczynski said Nicole ate the sandwich, while in the store because he felt weak, but forgot to pay for it when she, her husband and three-year-girl unprotected, KHON reported Friday. When a security guard asked for a receipt to prove you paid for the sandwich, Leszczynski said he offered to pay at the time, but the store manager called the police and she and her husband were arrested on fourth-degree theft.
“It was a complete distraction, distracted parents now,” said KHON. “I offered to pay the money he had just bought groceries.”
She said her daughter was returned to its 18 hours later.
“When we were told that would take it, because both would be arrested, just could not believe it, I could not believe what was happening, because I forgot to pay for the sandwich and she has never been away from us this time,” said Leszczynski.
The couple said they will fight over when her case heard this month.
