Coronado 6yearold, A multimillion-six year old son died after falling down a staircase in the same house Coronado just days before the n**ed body of a woman was found hanging from a balcony, members of the family confirmed Sunday.
Police were called to the house from the beach of Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp founder and CEO of Jonah Shacknai at 10 am July 11 after his 6 year old son, Max, was seriously wounded in what police said was reported as a fall from a ladder at home, Coronado Police Chief Louis Scanlon said. He later died of his wounds. The family issued the following Sunday night:
“With great sadness, Dina and convey the tragic death of our beloved son, Max (affectionately known as Maxie). Despite heroic efforts by paramedics and hospital staff, who could not recover from his injuries early last week? Your loving spirit, vibrant, friendly and always be in our hearts and he played every day. The loss of our families, many friends of Max of all ages and teammates and the community is immeasurable. ”
Shacknai was not present when authorities were called to his home on July 11, finding only the injured boy and his girlfriend Shacknai in the residence.
Max’s death is the second in less than a week in the mansion. Two days after the injury to Max, the body of his father’s girlfriend, Rebecca Nalepa, was found tied up, nkd and hanging from a second floor balcony overlooking the courtyard.
Shacknai also was absent when his brother, Adam, a resident of a rooming house on the property, which is Nalepa, 32, said Capt. Tim Curran Department of San Diego County Sheriff’s homicide squad.
Adam Shacknai alerted the authorities by calling 911 emergencies and reduce the nkd body, which fell into the courtyard, Curran said at a news conference Thursday.
Both brothers and Jonah Shacknai ex-wife, Dina Shacknai, the mother of his six-year-old son, were being questioned as witnesses in the investigation and are cooperating with detectives, said Curran.
Officials declined to talk about the current whereabouts of Jonah Shacknai.
The Arizona Republic newspaper quoted his former mother-in-law, Nancy Roman, who said Jonah Shacknai Dina had been with his son since he was hospitalized.
Curran said no one has been arrested or was considered a suspect in the case, investigators have not labeled the result of a crime, even Nalepa found with hands tied behind her backs and her feet are also required.
Curran said investigators have not ruled out suicide.
“Because of the unique and bizarre circumstances, which still has not been determined whether it is a homicide or suspicious death,” Curran told reporters. “This is a very strange death. No doubt about it.”
Court records show Shacknai Jonah and Dina, his second wife, had his divorce was finalized in January this year, although Romano told the Arizona Republic that her ex-law and Nalepa had been together for two years.
Court records show that in Arizona Nalepa, who had divorced in February, her maiden name legally restored Zahau in May.
Medicis issued a brief statement about the incident without giving further details.
“The Medici family is deeply saddened by the tragic incident at a hotel in California owned by Jonah Shacknai,” the company said. “Our thoughts are with Jonah and his family and asked that the family’s privacy be respected at this difficult period.”
Records show that the earth Shacknai, 54, whose Scottsdale, Arizona-based company is the manufacturer of Solodyn acne treatment and wrinkle filler Restylane, bought the 27-room historic property known as the Spreckels Mansion in October 2010.
Shares of the company, which reported 2010 revenues of 700 million dollars, fell as much as 5 percent after news of the investigation.
