Contagion Box OfficeContagion Box Office, In what is shaping up to be possibly the slowest weekend of the year at the box office, the only light was the new thriller from viral infection, which topped the charts with an estimated 8 million on Friday.

PG-13 Warner Bros., the film was directed by Steven Soderbergh and starring a who’s who of Oscar winners and nominees, received mostly positive reviews and is on track for a solid 22 million opening. But its success cannot distract from overall performance is dismal box office. The top 10 films grossed an estimated 19.6 million and Friday – the lowest Friday, so far this year.

The weekend of three new releases every other fighting. Lionsgate Guerrero, a PG-13 sports drama about two brothers (Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton) who face each other in a mixed martial arts tournament, and only brought 1.8 million on Friday. The film and 25 million won some good reviews and Oscar buzz for best supporting actor and Nick Nolte Hardy. However, in order to keep their prize prospects alive, the movie has to hold up well in the coming weeks.

Razzies, instead of Oscar, can be reserved for Adam Sandler produced Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star, who collected some of the worst reviews of the year and opened in 12th place with 540,000 and Friday. The result puts the R-rated comedy starring Nick Swardson as an aspiring p*rn star, on the road for a weekend and only 1.5 million gross. That’s not the end of opening week for a movie to play at least 1,500 locations – That honor goes to the infamous Delgo his debut and 512,000. But Larson Bucky will not be too far.

Estimates have not been reported yet for the low-budget R-rated horror film Creature, which opened yesterday in 1,507 theaters. But considering the advertising image is about half human, half lizard-monster in the swamps of Louisiana, we doubt his locker numbers show a lot, uh, biting.

Among the relics, aid fell 26 percent and 2.7 million on Friday, dropping to second place for the first time after spending 25 days at No. 1. Drama PG-13 should be collected and $ 9 million this weekend, bringing its cumulative gross ones and 137 million. And the spy thriller R-rated debt was reduced by 45 percent to 1.4 million, while the action film Revenge of the Colombian fell 41 percent to 1.2 million.

Check back here on Sunday for the full box office report.
