The Associated Press reports that Dr. Murray, who is accused of killing the pop icon Michael Jackson, chose not to speak in his own defense.
Revealed yesterday just after the judge reminded him of his right to testify or remain silent: “My decision is that not testify in this matter,” he said, a day after hinting that he was conflicted about the possibility of the stand .
After that, the defense rested its case, reports the New York Daily News, the prosecution had a doctor offer a rebuttal.
Dr. Murray has pleaded not guilty to the charges against him, but, having no support, you are giving up any chance he had to present first hand information that might skew the jury’s decision in its favor.
If convicted, the doctor faces a maximum of four years in prison and may lose his medical license.
