Most schools in the Charlotte area are closed today.
The winter storm headed for Charlotte dozens of private schools and public school districts in the region to close on Monday and Charlotte City Council offers its work session earlier in the day.
Private schools announcing their closure included Charlotte Latin, Charlotte Country Day School, Charlotte Christian School and Providence Day School. In addition, Rock Hill, Fort Mill, York, Clover, and Chester County schools and Winthrop University will be closed on Monday. Monday would be the first day of Winthrop is back winter holidays. York Technical College will be closed.
The make-up date for Rock Hill School District 3 will be Monday, January 17, as designated in the master schedule of the district.
Fort Mill schools will be the day with a day of classes Thursday, January 13 and a half-day on Friday, January 14, the district Web site said.
Other make-up days have not been announced.
Other closures and delays are: Burke County Schools, Faith Christian Academy, Gaston Christian School and Lake Norman Christian School. County Schools Alexander and Caldwell will start three hours late.
The Charlotte City Council also offers its next business meeting, 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 Monday to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Government Center, 600 East 4th St.
The Council Luncheon Briefing, scheduled for 17 are, is canceled. Other meetings of board committees on Monday scheduled to take place as scheduled, weather permitting.
