Cleveland Browns Rumors

March 23, 2012 by staff

Cleveland Browns Rumors, After months of speculation, Cleveland Browns fans finally know where Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III will be playing next season. Unfortunately for those fans who wanted him donning the orange and brown next year, RG3 will not be gracing the shores of Lake Erie.

Late Friday night it was reported the St. Louis Rams and Washington Redskins had agreed to a deal to send the Rams’ No. 2 pick to the Redskins for a bounty of draft picks. The Browns were reportedly in the running until the last second, but Washington’s offer of three first-round picks (2012, 2013 and 2014) and their second-round pick in 2012 won out. Now it appears the Heisman Trophy winner will begin his career in Washington D.C.

Now that the deal is done, many Cleveland Browns fans are left wondering where their team goes from here.

For a fan base that has endured a rotating carousel of quarterbacks since coming back into the league in 1999, many had hoped Griffin III would finally be the franchise quarterback to end the perpetual merry-go ride. Instead, many are now in a state of panic after missing out on RG3—and it may be unwarranted.

Griffin III is a remarkable talent, but mortgaging a slew of draft picks when the team has so many needs would have been irresponsible. Without the proper playmakers and line to block for him, RG3 had a high probability of suffering the same fate as all of the other Cleveland quarterbacks.
