Cleveland Airport Evacuated, Cleveland airport evacuated all terminals and aircraft today as a precautionary measure after a carry-on baggage X-ray machine was not working properly, allowing more bags to go unchecked.

“As a precautionary measure, which is the typical protocol, we have to check around the world, the airport clear the screen again and again,” said Jackie Mayo, a spokesman for Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

Detection failure occurred around 5:30 am on Friday, delaying flights and causing a number of the four terminals to be evacuated.

“That the 4:30 to 6 and 7 in the morning is a busy time,” said Mayo. “We have a lot of people here who are taking flights early in the morning, the weekend warriors to go home. So it was a little inconvenient, but as a precautionary measure what we do, and what that airports around the country do. It’s all about security, which is our top priority. ”

The airport reopened 45 minutes later after airport officials and a bomb-sniffing dog will consider the four terminals and airplanes to be safe.
