Civil War Bullets Found In Gettysburg Tree, Workers cut a fallen tree in the Gettysburg National Military Park found artifacts from the Civil War, when his saw bullets hit buried in the trunk of the tree.
The bullets were discovered last week, while a team was cutting through the oak tree at Culp `s Hill, the site of fierce fighting in July 2-3, 1863, the park superintendent, said Tuesday Bob Kirby.
Two sections of tree trunks were removed and treated to clean the entry of insects and mold before it is added to the park’s museum collection, officials said.
