Chuck Berry, (AP) – An agent of Chuck Berry said exhaustion was the reason the legend of rock and roll felt ill before a show in Chicago and had to have doctors check him. Agent Dick Alen announced Sunday by e-mail that the 84-year-old Berry was on a plane home. Alen did not say where Berry Berry was heading, but lived in Wentzville, Mo., as recently as 2008.

Fire Department spokesman Joe Roccasalva said Berry felt better and has signed a release after being checked before the show Saturday. Music lover Steve Handwerker said Berry gave an erratic performance outside the development and had to be helped backstage. Handwerker said Berry thanked the crowd before the start and did a few steps from his “heel scoot” around.

Berry is known for classic songs including “Maybelline,””Johnny B. Goode “and” Roll over Beethoven. ”
