Christmas Morning:Freezing rain is already falling this Christmas morning. Temperatures are below freezing and will continue to be until the late morning around noon. While light rain falls this morning, ice will form along trees and other elevated, cooler surfaces. Untreated roadways may become slick. The potential is there for a glaze of ice to form on these surfaces before freezing rain becomes rain this afternoon. Most locations can expect up to a quarter inch of ice accumulation, with higher amounds near one half inch possible in Roanoke southwestward into the New River Valley. Rain ends tonight.
