Charlie Davies, (AP) – A French newspaper reported that American striker Charlie Davies, who nearly died in a car accident last year, was speeding at 125 mph last weekend.

The site of the newspaper Le Progres reported Friday that Davies was driving an Audi Q7 on Sunday when he was caught on a motorway in the region of France in the Jura.

Davies, who plays for French club Sochaux, was involved in a car accident October 13, 2009, which killed another passenger, was seriously injured. It was not the driver.

He suffered two fractures to his right leg broken and dislocated left elbow, a fractured nose, forehead and eye socket, a ruptured bladder and bleeding in the brain.

The 24-year missed the World Cup
