The meeting of the WHO International Agency for Research on Cancer reviewed existing studies on health effects of electromagnetic radiation to determine if it can be labeled as a carcinogen.
IARC has published over 100 papers since 1970 on the carcinogenic properties of asbestos, X-rays and the human papilloma virus, among others.
Agency spokesman Nicolas Gaudin said Friday that scientists are expected to reach a verdict on May 31 at the end of an eight-day meeting of scientists in Lyon, France, which begins Tuesday. http://http://www.iarc.fr/
