Cee Lo Green, Cee Lo Green paid tribute to Patti LaBelle by dressing like the lead singer of the BET Awards 2011. The voice mentor took the stage with a shiny coat and a wig to honor LaBelle at the music ceremony in Los Angeles on Sunday night.
LaBelle was the recipient of this year’s Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET event, which was broadcast live from the Shrine Auditorium. After an introduction, which includes tributes from Beyonce and Gladys Knight, Cee-Lo went on a LaBelle interpretation of “Somebody Loves You”. He brought a can of hair spray on stage with him and stopped to spray the wig black edge on occasion.
Shirley Caesar and Marsha Ambrosius also performed musical tributes LaBelle. Ceaser sang, “You are my friend,” while Ambrose took “If You Knew.” LaBelle also performed the treatment of hearing their tracks “Love, necessity and Want You” and “Lady Marmalade.”
“I would like to thank everyone for everything you did for me,” said Labelle. “I will stay high because I won this wonderful prize.”
Chris Brown was the great winner of the night, taking home awards, including ‘Best Male R & B star “and” Best Collaboration “and” Video of the Year “for” look at me now “with Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes.
