Cathy Guisewite, Cathy Guisewite, creator of the popular “Cathy” comic strip is removed, and the last “Cathy” comic strip will run in the newspaper Sunday 03 October. If you are a collector … get ready to buy a lot of the Sunday papers!
According to the Chicago Tribune, Guisewite is 60 years old and wants to spend time with his family now.
“I suddenly found myself against the wall: What if I quit now, when?” Guisewite said. “My daughter is 18 and she goes into the final year of high school, and I want to be fully available to it before you move. My parents live in Florida, and I really have to be available for them too. In addition, I have 60 and I realized that there is much more than I want to do creatively. ”
Guisewite tells the story of how “Cathy” began. She was working in Detroit as a young advertising writer and sent the pictures to her mother to explain how he felt as a single woman alone in the big city. Her mother encouraged her to turn it into a cartoon, so happy for her mom, she sent a couple of drawings for the universal service syndication features. They responded with a contract and “Cathy” was born, to spend a career spanning over 34 years.
