Casslyn Welch, Fugitive couple John McCluskey and Welch were eventually arrested Casslyn finally near the town of Springerville Arizona. The arrest came after a forest service ranger saw the vehicle used by the couple near a campfire unattended on the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest. The guard called the police and local authorities. After some investigations it was found that the vehicle was stolen. A sheriff’s SWAT was called to approach the couple. Fidencio Rivera, Chief Deputy U.S. Marshal for the District of Arizona, told reporters that “within a couple of hours, police said, form a team and arrested the couple safely without anyone being hurt.”

McCluskey said later that the authorities have engaged in a shootout with the SWAT team if given the chance. He also said he wished he had killed the forest ranger when he saw him. Welch had tried to get a gun, but the SWAT team was quick to disarm it. Welch is McCluskey’s cousin and girlfriend.

The SWAT team knew that the couple will fight it out if given the chance, they know that the fugitives were armed and dangerous. McCluskey was serving a 15-year sentence for attempted murder and other crimes when he escaped from a prison in Arizona on July 30, apparently with the help of Welch.
