Cash Cab Accident, Traffic collisions over the weekend in Vancouver left a dead man, 61 years old and a woman in the hospital. The Surrey man was hit by a TV production vehicle, decorated to look like a taxi, just before midnight Friday in the 200 blocks East Cordova Street in the Downtown Eastside. The driver – who worked for Castlewood Productions on the TV show Cash Cab – remained at the scene and cooperated with police, Vancouver Police Department spokesman Const. Lindsey Houghton said.
The seriously injured victim was taken to hospital where he later died. The cause is under investigation. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their friends and family,” said President Andrew Burnstein Castlewood in a statement. “My heart is with the driver, a member of our technical staff, which is shaken and devastated by this tragic accident, like all our team.”
The crew had just finished shooting the night and make fun of the cab was being driven back to a storage facility, he said.
Ten minutes after the accident, a woman aged 34, was hit by a driver hitand run near the intersection of East 60th Avenue and Main Street.
The vehicle is believed to be a darkcoloured 2003-2007 Nissan Murano front-end damage, including a broken headlight, police said.
The man’s death was accident 13, Vancouver 2011. Nine of them were pedestrians. Anyone with information about either accident is asked to call investigators at 604-717-3012 VPD accident or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
