Casey Anthony Mask Sparks Bidding War, A bidding war broke out on eBay and 20,000 on Wednesday, with buyers apparently desperate to get their hands on a latex mask of Casey Anthony. Anthony was released from jail in Florida in early July after being acquitted of charges that she murdered her two-year-old daughter Caylee in a trial that captured the attention of the United States.
The Ebay seller said the mask – described as “an important piece of the history of crime” – was sculpted to the accuracy of a video parody of a pop artist and sculptor named Toro, and was one of nine that exist.
The description stated: “Halloween is just a few months. Forget Freddy, Jason Meyers, this is your chance to scare the * # &% around the world and win every costume contest with this incredible Tot mom mask latex, possibly the most scary mask on the planet. ”
The seller – called “Prophunter” with a record 100 percent – said it was “One of the best Halloween masks I’ve ever seen.”
“This is in excellent condition and is number 6 of 9,” said the headline, “I was one for me because I know they will be invaluable. An important piece of the history of crime. No matter what your opinion on the trial, this is still a heck of a conversation. ”
The bidding started small, but Wednesday morning the price exceeded 20,000 and, although most of the biggest deals appear to have been placed by a bidder.
