Casey Anthony Appeals

Casey Anthony Appeals, Less than two weeks after he was acquitted of murder and other felony charges, the Casey Anthony defense team filed Friday that is appealing her conviction on four counts of lying to police.
A 12-member jury convicted Anthony on July 5 on charges of misdemeanor. Two days later, Judge Belvin Perry was sentenced to four years in prison.
Due to the time already served in jail awaiting trial and the time to “gain”, Anthony was released from the Orange County Jail on Sunday.
There are probably two main reasons why Anthony is appealing the conviction and sentence, said veteran lawyer from Orlando WFTV-TV legalanlyst Bill Sheaffer.
An appeal Anthony gives another reason to assert her Fifth Amendment right not to answer questions in a defamation lawsuit filed against it by Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez, Sheaffer said.
Anthony told detectives in 2008, a woman named Zenaida Fernandez Gonzalez kidnapped her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee Marie. But her murder trial, defense attorney Anthony Caylee drowned alleged kidnapping and history was made.
“It’s a good way to avoid answering the questions,” Sheaffer said.
The other reason, Sheaffer said, has to do with the costs of the investigation.
“If he wins in that appeal, then the cost of the investigation that the state is the computer and put on trial, would go too,” he said.
Anthony’s defense team also filed a motion asking the court to take into account Anthony insolvent and unable to pay attorney fees and court costs in connection with her case and an affidavit stating its inability to pay costs. It is not known where Anthony, 25, will go after she leaves prison.
