Carol ChanningCarol Channing, Carol Channing is individual of those stars that make sparks. In 89 years she remains witty, bald and remember everything about the world of entertainment to which the director was, choreographers and theater played in and all the cast members. Now – this is done when you’re 89.

Do not just talk about the old days; she recalls his conversations with Churchill of England – which, incidentally, was a strong advocate of “Art.” That’s important Channing and her husband. They have always been eager supporters of the Arts.

Channing and her husband are great friends with Congresswoman Jackie Speier, who is also a promoter Arts. “We’re betting on getting new Arts Program in schools. Art opens a whole new world for students” – Channing said. Her husband Harry said earnestly – “Do you know how many instruments they have in what they call a band now?” – Asked Harry. “One – that’s all. The children are missing. Need to expand your world with poetry, painting, music and acting.” Carol interjected: “When I was at Lowell High School – which had all these extra activities. If they can afford it then why cannot afford it now? “That’s a good question.

Carol – I remember a time when you did “Drop-In” television appearances. Abandoned you in ‘on television programs like The Andy Griffith Show, The Gomer Pyle Show, Green Acres, Hogan’s Heroes. G.E. were created by it was a big poster in all programs. – “Oh, it was fun – we had a lot of laughs. Some of the Drop-in just slipped appearances without first talking with the cast. They cast would be quite surprised and amused. The days of TV were fantastically fun.”

When you were in New York at the opening of “Hello Dolly” – Jackie Kennedy and her children came backstage to see him. Are you surprised? “Surprised? That is not the word for it – that he almost fell – it was a complete secret, and one I will always remember.”

You toured with the wonderful Mary Martin in “Legends.” How and Martin get along? “We became great friends. We had fun together. I remember that show and Mary with affection.”

Did you attend school with George Moscone? I have a black and white photo of you and then-Mayor Moscone. “No, I did not know him until later. I think it was a private school in San Francisco. It was very sad to leave someone so wonderful, so early in life.”

“I love working with Carole Shorenstein Hayes at the Orpheum Theatre. We were talking about our plans for the Opening Dolly there – and I suggested to Carol that we offer some cheaper seats so that everyone has the opportunity to see the show. Carol thought it was a great idea, and advertised as “Carol seats.” I wanted to give everyone the opportunity to see Hello Dolly. The San Francisco Hearing was simply wonderful. And my cheap seats sold out every night! ”

She appears to benefit “Help is on the way sixteenth” (That’s Entertainment) on 15 August at the Herbst Theatre. Will you sing? “Well, yes – I’ll be singing a song or two. ”

You know Carol Cook will be appearing as well – what you and Carol Cook sing a duet together? After all – you played the role of Dolly. “I have to talk to Carol Cook. I think it’s a wonderful idea. In fact, my husband Harry said something. I hope it goes well.”

You are going to be busy in August. Not only are you doing “Help is on the Way” benefit – but will also have a ‘Night of the conversation and laughter’ with the famous Little Rich and Steve Rossi in ‘Conversations Speaker Series Comedy “at the University of San Francisco Theatre Presentation. This show is on August 8 (http://www.comedytalks.com/).

“Oh, I can not wait – I love to talk, give me a chance to talk about the Arts and try to get people to insist that we add the arts to schools.” – Said. Well, if anyone can do it – you can. Oh, I – I have the mayor of Hillsborough working on a “program of the Arts and Education”. ” – Channing said.

I really want to emphasize the importance of art. Art Poetry open for Harry and I met Harry when I was 12 and he was 13? I asked the prom party if he wanted to dance with me. He tried – but it was nothing good. At some point we lost contact with each other. We are later in life – and are so happy together. ” – Harry was involved in “I have 90 and she 89. And we plan to get married for a long time.”

They have a million stories between them. It brings together the princes, queens, prime ministers (Churchill) and Presidents. Churchill loved the arts and was on their side to promote the Arts.

What began as just a 15-minute talk – was more than an hour. They never wear out. But always remember her strength, fun – bright attitude of life – and of course the strong bond of love between them.

I leave with this quote Carol: “In Africa we talked, drank brandy and painted us!”
