Carnie Wilson, For Carnie Wilson, weight struggles have been a life-long symptom of stress and a challenging relationship with her body. Recently, the Celebrity Wife Swap star came out about another ongoing issue in her life: addiction.
The former Wilson Phillips singer turned TV star, whose TV credits include her own talk show in the ’90s, a 2010 reality show, and a stint as a game show hostess, says her weight is back up this year. Wilson claims she is “one of the millions and millions of people that struggles with an addiction to food.” She goes on to say that she has trouble relaxing, an issue complicated by drug and alcohol addiction, according to FOX News.
It is possible to maintain a healthy body in the face of addiction. Weight gain and eating disorders are manageable with reasonable eating, understanding when the body is actually hungry, and some forms of therapy such as talk or behavioral therapy, according to Psychology Today. And the cause is important: releasing extra weight has many benefits, including a more youthful, healthier appearance. Other added benefits include a better sex life, saving money, and better job performance.
Relationships also benefit from a healthy weight: Prevention reports that people who maintain a healthy body are more likely to influence their spouses to do the same.
To Carnie Wilson, weight management is something she wishes for her children as well. She gives her daughter healthy eating guidelines: “I tell her you can have ice cream or cake once in a while. You can have dessert, but you’ve got to give up a carb at a meal or you can’t snack on gummies. You’ve got to have some fruit.”
