Carey Mulligan Nerves, Carey Mulligan has revealed she feels under pressure to satisfy fans of The Great Gatsby. The Oscar-nominated actress has been cast in the iconic role of Daisy Buchanan in Baz Luhrmann’s forthcoming big-screen adaptation of F Scott Fitzgerald’s classic novel, alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire and Joel Edgerton.

“It’s very nerve-racking. I know how much the book means, especially in America,” she told 24 Frames.

“And everyone has their own view on what the book means, which makes it even more nerve-racking.”

Australian filmmaker Baz, who directed William Shakespeare’s Romeo And Juliet and Moulin Rouge!, has planned to give The Great Gatsby the 3D treatment, and wants to tease out the modern parallels.

“Baz does really like to connect the past and the present,” Carey added.

The film, which is currently shooting in Australia, will be released in December 2012.
