Canadian Thanksgiving, Food Bank of Canada has gained a new opportunity to grow your web presence online. LocalHood.ca announced that it has established a new category of nonprofit, charitable institutions that provide food to needy people. The category of registration was established in 2011 Canada the weekend of Thanksgiving.
Local food banks have a constant need for food donations such as canned goods and other staples to feed people and families without enough to eat. Many local food banks can also use additional volunteer support to help manage their programs.
Food banks in Canada are challenged to keep up with the need vast majority of Canadians who may have lost a job and never imagined he would ever have to ask for help. Many people suffer from hunger and families may also feel embarrassed by the stigma attached to going to a food bank and do not know how to get help. Raising awareness is key.
The local food banks instead see a page that will help LocalHood.ca free food bank to increase its presence on the web. LocalHood.ca page instead print the name of the food bank, its location information, including a map and other contact information. The food bank can also send a detailed description of their services, their mission and their needs.
According to Wilf Barnes, a spokesman for LocalHood.ca, the list is primarily intended to create community awareness of local food banks as a resource for people in crisis. Barnes said that “… provide a food bank with a LocalHood.ca page instead creates another fingerprint on the site of a neighborhood food bank to get their message to the community.”
People who do not have enough to eat, can not access the web, but people who can support the Food Bank do. “People who can offer a helping hand by donating food or volunteering may not be aware of the needs, or even the existence of neighborhood food bank.” Says Barnes. “A better web presence can make the most recognizable food bank for people search and surf the web and want to help once they learned the cause.”
According to its 2011 profile of hunger in the Daily Bread Food Bank “For most people, the use of food banks is a temporary measure to help deal with difficult financial periods so you can still try to eat to pay the rent. These periods may include job loss or the sudden reduction of working hours, an injury or sudden illness, or being new to the country and not be able to work. ”
The news comes at a weekend in Canada. The Canadian Thanksgiving holiday is a Monday, but people can eat their Thanksgiving meal on any day of the weekend for three days with Sunday and Monday is the day most common feast.
While Thanksgiving is traditionally celebrated with a large family meal is also a time of need for individuals and families who may be without the financial means to have a proper meal, let alone a family celebration banquet.
LocalHood.ca is a national directory of Canada is in a beta version status. The site is building and testing new business categories and functionality of the facility before its official launch is expected to be sometime in early 2012. When the site officially launches, the data sets of location-based information from across Canada will be added to populate the directory. The directory will also feature a unique distribution model for creating opportunities for local and regional distributors.
