Camelot Starz, Starz is next to reinvent the Arthurian legend in Camelot, starting with the death of King Uther and what follows, with the establishment of power relations. This first episode has to ask its context and its main protagonists to explain to viewers what direction the series wants to borrow. So let’s start seeing the eternal conflict between Merlin and Morgan, each reflecting the spirit sorcerer each camp, and are clearly the leaders of a coming battle.
Without too much drag, family relations conflicting Morgan are provided to us that we can have no doubt (you never know) about his intentions. The subtlety of the character and construction will be for later, the essence is simply placed, and its first alliance to lead the country, with King Lot. A combination of attraction and ambition is created immediately so that he does lack a real opponent.
This will not delay to come to them, or rather to invite, in the person of Arthur, Merlin went looking straight into his campaign. Like the young man, it is not hard to feel some frustration at the lack of information that the wizard provides, it controls when and how Arthur must learn more about his personal history. Joseph Fiennes then clearly leads the dance, giving us a few bonus smirks to rival those of Eva Green. It must be that for a true balance of forces, since the episode does not leave too much doubt about the work he must do: create a king. The premises we are shown, but Arthur is still young, at once fiery and pure, and it is clearly thrown to the lion without any input, although some flashes are there to establish that he is not oblivious to reality things.
The actors are there to keep all standing, half-ruined castle what Camelot is a setting that does not need them, but which embodies quite well the general spirit of the pilot: we currently under construction. This is clearly an emotional introduction that this fishery, having difficulties in providing the necessary scale to what is being played. After all, Morgana and Arthur want the same thing, and a throne is far from being a trifle. The visions of Merlin are there to show the terrible consequences if fate is moving in the wrong direction, an element here to announce that the whole topic is epic and which cannot be felt.
Then it is not the best driver that is exciting, but it remains fairly good bill to stir some curiosity. Supported by a cast can not be stronger, there is definitely enough to do much, and we can then ask to see that Camelot really embrace his destiny.
