California Wildfires, Residents of several hundred houses faced mandatory evacuations Monday, and at least one school district was closed as a string of fires caused by lightning challenged firefighters in Central California. Three groups of fire in Kern County has completed a total of 87 square kilometers.
Two complexes were fire southeast of Bakersfield, near Arvin and Tehachapi, and a third complex in the northern part of the province had come to Sequoia National Forest.
The evacuation notice was in place for parts of Stallion Springs, Capt. Bill Brickey’s fire department. Caliente School District was closed due to fire. Elsewhere, fires in Shasta and Tehama counties in northern California were contained.
