Calcutta Hopes A Dye Job Can Keep Its Decay From Showing

Calcutta Hopes A Dye Job Can Keep Its Decay From Showing, India is painting Calcutta blue, and there’s nothing you can do about it. Government buildings, bridges and even taxis will be doused in Pantone 15-4020 TC, or “sky blue,” as part of a state initiative to mask the city’s urban decay.
Twitter is already hyperfocused on the color selection, which is meant to correspond with the new government’s motto:
“The sky is the limit!” Opposition parties think the plan is just plain shady, while The Calcutta Telegraph comments that funds should be rechanneled toward more pressing problems, such as “arsenic in the water, archaic sewers and ..
. priceless paintings rotting away in public art galleries.”
