Ronni Chasen was shot five times in the chest shortly after midnight, hours after attending a glittering film premiere of “Burlesque” with Christina Aguilera and Cher at the top movie theater of Los Angeles, police said.
The 64-year-old, who publicized films like “Driving Miss Daisy” and “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,” went on to an after-party and was driving home in her Mercedes when she was shot.
Officers found her car crashed into a light pole just off Sunset Boulevard.
Chasen was taken to the nearby Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, the coroner’s office said.
Police said they had no information about a suspect or motive for the fatal shooting, an extremely rare occurrence in the plush neighborhood that Hollywood’s top stars have long called home.
A well-known figure in Hollywood film circles, Chasen previously served as vice president of publicity at MGM studios.
Her death was the third homicide in Beverly Hills this year. The neighborhood had no homicides last year.
