Burger King, Baltimore, Burger King barricade suspect surrenders,
A confrontation between police and suspected of rape who took hostages, including a 7-year-old in a Baltimore Burger King has ended peacefully with the surrender of the suspect, police said.
Baltimore police said Sunday afternoon that the suspect was arrested and the hostages were unharmed.
Swarms of police, including SWAT teams surrounded the restaurant for several hours.
The police spokesman T. J. Smith said earlier that there were “about four hostages” in the restaurant before both were released.
police negotiators worked to get the suspect to end the situation without violence.
Smith said the suspect is wanted for an active warrant for rape and was seen driving Sunday morning. The police tried to pull over a suspect, but the suspect fled and led police on a chase. The chase ended when the suspect crashed into another vehicle and then fled on foot, while carrying what Smith said was “believed to be a firearm” at the Burger King in southwest Baltimore.
