Bruno Mars & ‘Today’, Bruno Mars excited fans packed Rockefeller Plaza New York to get the idol born in Hawaii to perform on Friday’s “Today” show concert series. The Grammy-winning singer, who just finished his tour with Janelle Mon? E, looked sharp in a suit by Dolce & Gabbana $ pink shirt and bright opened through their debut hits Doo-Wops & Hooligans including “Lazy’s Song” and a remix of “Just The Way You Are. ”
He and his band showed some James Brown-inspired movements “Runaway Baby,” singing some of the letters into a megaphone.
Time rain, fog did not stop Bruno Mars “hooligans” to attend their concert at the Plaza in the morning at Rockefeller Center on Friday morning (June 24) for the “Today” show. Fans came from all over the country, some even camped out since 10 last night, hoping to catch a glimpse of the Grammy Award winner. Mars did not disappoint, performing his hits “Lazy’s Song,” “Runaway Baby” and “Just the Way You Are” off his debut album, Doo-Wops & Hooligans.
“He’s an amazing singer, performer. [His victory Grammy] makes me like him even more” fan Kathy Ramos, who had been waiting since 1 am, he said.
Fans created hundreds of homemade signs hoping to attract the attention of Mars. Kayla Megan Carroll and Dee, both 16 years in a row on Thursday night and were excited to see Mars perform. “We love him. We saw a month ago and had to go again. Molesta rain, but definitely worth it,” said Carroll.
Ashraf Arain Munzath and Sundus, both 18, arrived at 4 am for the show. “We love Bruno Mars and want to make sure to get,” said Ashraf.
More than 2,000 fans arrived early in the morning, surprising the local police and even host Ann Curry, who proclaimed this concert was the “biggest crowd of the year” for the “Today” show concert series.
The line to enter the barricades wrapped around at least three blocks. But space is limited and the massive crowd left many fans can not watch the show. Even the fans who waited for hours were unable to enter the barricade. Both Ashraf Arain and ended up leaving before you even see Mars.
“We are very disappointed. The stage was too low to the ground and people were crying and trying to jump over our shoulders,” said Ashraf.
Mars hit the stage immaculately dressed in a black dress by Dolce & Gabbana $ a pink shirt with black tie and dark tones, but without his signature fedora hat short brim. The singer began his performance with “The song lazy” people have actually amplified. After his first song, Matt Lauer and Mars spoke for a few minutes and commented on how much bigger the crowd today, compared with his last appearance on the program eight months ago. Mars, which continues to gain notoriety and success as a solo artist, she told Lauer, “You’re waving to me. I’m glad I’m here. We really lucked out.”
When asked if he plans to continue writing for other artists (Mars has previously written by Cee-Lo Green, Bob McCoy and Travie), Mars joked: “Of course not. I’m done,” then added: “Of course” .
For his next song, Mars sang “Baby Runaway” and jokingly danced with his band. To close the set, Mars jazz sang a version of “Just The Way You Are,” with all the crowd singing. As if on cue, the rain really started to reach Mars as soon as he finished his set.
