Britney Spears X Factor USA, TALKS between X-Factor boss Simon Cowell and pop icon Britney Spears are nearing a conclusion, with the 30 year old set to sign up as the show’s newest judge.

The singer, who has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, is set to earn $10 million (€7.5 Million) for judging the second series of the talent show.

Cowell spoke of his fascination with the ‘toxic’ singer in a radio interview last month, saying “The fact that she’s still one of the most talked-about – not just popstars, but people in the world today – means that you’ve got this star power.”

He also admitted he admired her determination which has seen her stay at the top of the industry for over a decade. “This girl’s got resilience and the fact that she’s survived this and she’s still hot, she’s still having hit records and she’s still controversial… there’s a reason for that” he said.

X-Factor USA launched to huge publicity last year however ratings proved disappointing, failing to beat rival American Idol. The show faced problems from start, with the controversial dropping of Cheryl Cole from the panel.

Cowell dropped judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger in a bid to shake up the show. Neither he nor Fox have commented on who the new judges will be, other than Cowell confirming they will both be female.

Spears has been one of many faces linked to the new panel. Janet Jackson was said to have entered initial talks however was unable to commit due to touring commitments.
