Breastfeed Wrong Newborns Mix-up, The mother in a private hospital wrong mixed two newborns for eight hours were breastfed. The incident occurred in an Australian hospital, where an investigation is underway. The mixture was seen only until a family member expressed concern about babies. A nurse at St John of God Hospital Geelong neglected to check the name bracelets and baby were taken to the wrong mothers on Friday special care nursery.
Women and their babies are being tested to make sure that did not contract any infection.
Hospital CEO Stephen Roberts, said: “It is a terrible tragedy and get a big surprise for us and the families involved.
“Our protocols and processes are broken and we are deeply sorry and sad for the pain and anxiety we have caused to these families.
“We will sit with the staff and you can not see this happen again.
“When people come to us who expect the best care and that is what we offer.”
Experts say this type of confusion can be hard to beat for the mother and especially can have a lasting impact on them psychologically, which can also affect the baby.
