Brandon Phillips Cardinals, (The Huffington Post) — Cincinnati Reds second baseman Brandon Phillips missed Sunday’s game against the Chicago Cubs after fouling a ball on the shin. But he was more than ready to play in the three-game series against their division rivals, the St. Louis Cardinals.
“I like to play against these guys with one leg,” Phillips said Hal McCoy of the Dayton Daily News. “I hate the Cardinals. The only thing they do is to btch and moan all they all are sl**ts, all of them.”
Cardinals manager Tony La Russa countered by saying: “We won the right way and lose the right path. We have received many accolades in recent years that when we lose our edge covers and when we win, keep your mouth shut, that is my comment. ”
The two teams are in a tight pennant race for the division of the Central Division. The Reds are currently in first place, but for a single game. St. Louis beat Cincinnati 7-3 on Monday night.
