Branches Of Science, Land of the cheeseheads beckons Science Strath Haven Middle School Team Olympiad, which is intended there to participate in the national competition in front of today and Saturday. A total of 60 teams from around the country will be at the University of Wisconsin at Madison, where he will face a series of events that covers all branches of science and technology.
The National Science Olympiad organization describes its powers as something similar to “academic track meets, with an emphasis on active, hands on group participation. There are 23 team events and each year some of them are rotated to reflect the changing nature of genetics, earth science, chemistry, anatomy, physics, geology, mechanical engineering and technology.
One of the advisers of Strath Haven team, Shoshanna Gottlieb, said the team gets to travel to Wisconsin, according to past successes.
In particular, the team of about 30 students the first in the tournament in the entire state of Pennsylvania Juniata College on April 29 against a field of three dozen opponents.
He also finished first in a tournament invitation to Bayard Rustin High School in Westtown in January, the eighth in a tournament invitation in Ohio, in February, and for the first time in the tournament in Southeastern Pennsylvania Cabrini College 28 February. The last competition involved 30 teams.
