Bobby Brown Leaves Funeral, Whitney Houston’s ex-husband Bobby Brown left Whitney Houston’s funeral early. Bobby Brown, who was almost barred from his ex-wife Whitney Houston’s funeral, didn’t stick around long at the Saturday service.

R&B singer Brown, whose fiery marriage to Houston was blamed by many for her problems, bolted from the chart-toppping singer’s memorial shortly after its start, ABC News reported.

Brown and his son Landon left the New Hope Baptist Church about 20 minutes after the service began at noon with two gospel choirs singing.

He entered the church about 15 minutes before the service, and reportedly drove off in a black Escalade as Houston’s family and friends celebrated her life at an emotional funeral.

There were various reports that Houston’s family might block Brown from attending the service. During their volatile marriage, Brown was arrested for slapping Houston and threatening to “beat her a**.” The couple married in 1992 and divorced 14 years later.
