Blimp Lands Ohio Backyard
August 16, 2011 by USA Post
The strong winds tore a blimp from its moorings at OSU Don Scott Airport just after midnight on Sunday.
Team members say they had seen someone standing all day, and that person actually saw the blimp flying soon.
What nobody knew – was where it went, which caused a panic seven-hour search.
Lillian Bernhagen 94 years knew nothing of the fugitive floating until a police officer knocked on her door.
“He said do not be surprised if you see a lot of police in their backyard. I said, oh What’s happening? Said they have a blimp in your backyard. And I said, you gotta be kidding me!”
218 foot zeppelin had fallen from heaven right into your backyard.
With a weight of 3,600 pounds, the equivalent of a good size car, its impact could have caused considerable damage.
“I just did a blow to the bird feeder down,” said Bernhagen.
Bernhagen remembers hearing an explosion, but assumed it was just the storm blows through.
“That was thunder. So I turned around and went back to sleep.”
Without imagining that she awoke to a blimp in your backyard.
The Hangar 1 Vodka team spent all day picking up the pieces of their aircraft.
Their promotional campaign can be grounded, but the test has given a ccktail Bernhagen.
“If I were a woman who drinks might have something even slightly stronger than that!”
