The problems seemed to be limited to Internet access, instant messaging and roaming in Europe, despite the disruptions were reported Monday to the Middle East and Africa.
RIM, based in Waterloo, Ontario, said in a statement: “We are working to solve a problem that currently affects some of BlackBerry subscribers in EMEA We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience ..”
In a note of his own Twitter, customer service, representatives of RIM said the company was investigating some problems with customer accounts in Europe and the Middle East and apologized for the interruption.
BlackBerry subscribers with Vodafone Group PLC were also experiencing problems. Some users of Vodafone said its service was functioning normally after the late afternoon European time.
“RIMM has informed us that they are working to resolve the issue as a matter of urgency,” a spokesman for the UK-based Vodafone told Dow Jones Newswires.
Everything everywhere, the largest mobile operator in the UK, was not immediately available for comment. Everything everywhere was created last year by the merger of Orange, France Telecom and T-Mobile of Deutsche Telekom AG companies in the United Kingdom.
