Bishop Noel Jones, Noel Jones, head of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World (PAW) of Jamaica Incorporated, is expected to address the issue of church unity when he addresses the 67th staging of the PAW Ministerial Council at 38 Jobs Lane, Spanish Town this evening.

“It would be fallacious for us to conceive that the Body of Believers has fully comprehended the concept of unity that Christ sought to inculcate as a key element for the development and perfecting of ‘the Church’,” he said in his message to the Ministerial Council Wednesday during the opening session.

Bishop Jones, who pastors the City of Refuge Church in Texas, United States of America, stressed that this [church] unity would impact the world in a manner that would result in them believing on Jesus and leading more fulfilled lives in keeping with their higher calling.

PAW chairman, Suffragan Bishop Howard Pusey, said the theme was relevant and timely as disunity was destroying homes, churches, communities and to a greater extent the world. “Unity can be a wonderful force for good,” he said, “and we need to do all we can to foster it”.

He added: “The concept of unity, as illustrated in Psalm 133, does not depict it only as the absence of dissention but as a pleasant and delightful state where individuals would enjoy and promote the well-being of each other.”
