Billy Grammer Gotta Travel OnBilly Grammer Gotta Travel On, Grand Ole Opry star Billy Grammar died of natural causes in his home state of Illinois, on Wednesday morning (August 10), at the age of 85.

Billy was known as an artist, great musician and Grand Ole Opry performer. His first single, “Gotta Travel On”, reached number 5 in 1959 and taken to a point in the Opry, he joined the same year.

Billy received his own syndicated television series in 1965 and found success as a designer of guitars. He donated his first model at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in 1969. Billy also gave the invocation at the inauguration of the new Grand Ole Opry House in 1974, President Richard Nixon in attendance.
