Bette Midler, Lady Gaga insists he did not copy siren Bette Midler in a performance in a wheelchair because she had “no idea” the veteran artist pulled a similar trick 30 years older than she was before.
The “Poker Face” singer to perform at a show in Australia last week wearing a mermaid tail and sitting in a wheelchair – a move that led him to take Midler Twitter to remind the fans that came up with the way trick in 1980.
In a series of messages, Midler writes: “I’m not sure I know Lady Gaga done my mermaid in a wheelchair for millions of people – many of whom are still alive … Dear Lady Gaga if you believe a mermaid in a wheelchair is familiar – that’s because it’s what you can see youtube 24 / 7 -! With MS to do … Dear Lady Gaga I’ve been doing singing mermaid in a wheelchair since 1980 – may keep the meat dress and t ** s firecracker – Siren’s mine. ”
Gaga has spoken to deny that she had no idea Midler had beaten in the stakes originality, saying “Access Hollywood” Billy Bush: “I had no idea she did and I am a big fan of Bette Midler.
“(It was) not (a tribute Midler), in the beginning … because I did not know he had (him), but I do now and I think it’s great. Obviously, I feel connected to women in theater and women of the past.
“Maybe we are just cut from the same. I could not jump back in the queue, so I just stuck in a wheelchair. All I can say is that I… I admire and find a the most brilliant and amazing artists, so that’s all I’ll say. ”
Taking it in stride, Midler also promised to talk to Gaga when both attend the upcoming Emmy Awards this year, adding: “We will take this further at the Emmys in September. Sirenas can co-exist Fabulous!”
