BEP & Music Academy, One of the biggest music acts, The Black Eyed Peas, announced Tuesday it will open a school in lower Manhattan this summer dedicated to teaching young people about the production in the music industry.
The four-member hip-hop / pop group composed of will.i.am, Fergie, Taboo and Apl.de.ap, are opening up to the institution through a joint venture of the Peapod Foundation and Adobe Foundation, a collaboration that already has three other schools in Los Angeles, Oakland and Redwood City. They are calling your company the Peapod Adobe Youth Voices and music academy multimedia.
The main objective of the academy is to teach local teens, ages 13-19, all about the music and video production, while the computer is provided with top professional quality. Classes begin this July, and students will be accepted based on two recommendations from teachers and a common interest in multimedia areas that the school will specialize in the design, namely, graphics, video editing and music.
Unofficial leader of the group, will.i.am, said the opening of the new academy is his way of “paying forward” and give young people the tools and instructions necessary for them to realize their dreams.
