Benjamin Hooks:Benjamin L. Hooks, a civil rights leader and a director of an executive time of the NAACP, has died. News hooks‘ through the day today (April 15) was announced by state Rep. Ulysses Jones. Among many things Hooks was responsible for an increase in the membership of the NAACP, which had fallen when he entered as executive director. “It came at a time when the NAACP fought and gave it a solid base. He brought dignity and the strong leadership of the organization,” Jones told the Associated Press. Hooks also served as the first black commissioner on the Federal Communications Commission.
