The third race of the Triple Crown of thoroughbred horse races, the Belmont Stakes, the race appears to be Animal Kingdom. But several spoilers will be running a 1/2-mile race against him on Saturday, including Preakness winner Shackleford.
Animal Kingdom is the subject of an article raving in The New York Times by racing Maven Joe Drape, who wrote that the colt training on Monday, “suggested his best race on Saturday could reach the 143rd running of the Belmont Stakes. Other experts agree and have named Animal Kingdom the horse to beat. The horse is from the ninth postposition.
Nehra will have better to do it again. Nehra, coached by Steve Assmussen and ridden by Corey Nakatani, was presented at the second position for most of the Kentucky Derby. He sat out the Preakness in preparation for the Belmont, and its owner, Ahmed Zayat, is optimistic about the chances of the foal, on Saturday. “We are ready,” he repeated several times to reporters. Nehra currently stands at 1.5 between New York gamblers, and may be a good horse betting on more exotic scenarios.
Master of Hounds came from behind the post 15 in the Kentucky Derby to get closer to fifth in the celebration, and reproduction suggests resistance. It might take the race of his young life to win the Belmont, but he has done it. He will come from the rail – Master of Hounds drew the first postposition.
Santivan was also gaining ground on the leaders at the end of Derby, and will probably be a favorite among players of handicap, with the morning line at 15-1 and the punters to push down to 8-1.
