BBC Frozen Planet

BBC Frozen Planet, BBC One’s Frozen Planet is an amazing and mind-blowing documentary broadcasting some of the world’s greatest Antarctic species including polar bears, killer whales, white whales and penguins.
Sir David Attenborough along with the production crew takes you on a thrilling polar expedition into the frozen wilderness and polar wildlife is explored. My favourite episode of Frozen Planet so far, showed how the white whales use the bottom of the reef to act as a ‘loofah scrub’ for personal hygiene to scrub off excess skin.

Emperor penguins and Adele penguins have to survive in the most brutal hostile conditions in the Antarctic while travelling to South America. The series has included extraordinary shots of the Emperor penguins diving out of the frozen rivers using slow motion photography camera equipment and time lapse techniques which have also captured some fantastic footage of icicles growing and the leaves changing colour.

There are so many frozen wonders of the polar wildlife and Antarctica we don’t know about. This series highlights the whole journey of which the species embark on and as the audience we share some part of that magical journey and get to see an insight into how they live, communicate, breed and migrate to different parts of the world.
