Baz Luhrmann Injured On Australia Set, Baz Luhrmann has been injured on the set of ‘The Great Gatsby’. The director is currently filming his version of the classic tale – starring Leonardi DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire – in Australia, but had to cut shooting short after he was hit by a crane.
He required medical attention and three stitches were needed to his head.
Co-producer Anton Monsted said: “We were on quite a cramped set and he was ducking under the crane. He struck his head on the weights on the end of the camera crane. He split open his head and we had to get the doctor.”
The set was shut down a day early for the festive holidays as a result and the cast and crew will re-group in early 2012 to continue shooting.
Also starring in the highly-anticipated F. Scot Fitzgerald adaptation are Isla Fisher, Joel Edgerton and Jason Clarke.
Filming has been taking place for the last three months, and the movie is set to be released on Christmas Day, 2012.
